Pakistan Agencies Striving To Sustain Militancy Repeated Infiltration Bids To Keep Terrorism Alive: J&K DGP

Jammu and Kashmir DGP Dilbag Singh said on Saturday that Pakistani agencies are attempting to keep the "gasping and dying" militancy alive, but the anti-infiltration grid along the Line of Control (LoC) is doing its job. He told reporters after launching the Jashn-e-Dal festival here that the ceasefire agreement between India and Pakistan along the Line of Control is being respected "by and large" by both sides. However, there have been some terrorist infiltration attempts, according to Singh.

The director general of police (DGP) said: "Ceasefire understanding is being respected by and large by either side but in between some activities, some infiltration bids, have taken place, especially in the Rajouri-Poonch sector and the Kupwara sector. We have taken action against the infiltrating groups," he was quoted as saying by PTI.

While some infiltration attempts have been successful, the number of terrorists who have managed to sneak in has been very low, according to Singh. "There are attempts by Pakistani agencies to keep militancy, which is gasping and dying, alive through such activities, but our anti-infiltration grid along the LoC is alert and they are doing their job," he said.

"Previously, nearly a half-dozen similar attempts were also foiled." There were a couple of successful infiltration bids in the Poonch-Rajouri area, where dreaded terrorists from Pakistan came in and targeted ordinary people as well as some security personnel. Operations are underway to track them down and foil such plots," the DGP said.

5 Foreign Terrorists Killed In Kupwara, Infiltration Bid Foiled In Poonch, Says J&K DGP Dilbag Singh

On Friday's operations in Poonch and Kupwara, Singh stated that two infiltration attempts were foiled.

"Two infiltration attempts occurred yesterday in Poonch and the Jumagund area of Kupwara, where infiltrators from Pakistan attempted to enter. The company did not get a chance to enter Poonch, and their attempt was foiled, forcing them to retreat under the cover of foliage. We recovered a large amount of weapons and ammunition that the terrorists had brought with them.
