Saga Dawa Festival

<p>Sikkim commemorated the revered Saga Dawa festival on June 14. The Saga Dawa festivities began on May 31 in Sikkim this year and will continue until June 29.&nbsp;</p> <p>Saga Dawa is celebrated in the fourth month of the Tibetan calendar and it holds immense importance for followers of Mahayana Buddhism, symbolizing the birth, enlightenment, and liberation of Lord Buddha from the physical realm.&nbsp;</p> <p>During this vibrant festival, the streets of Gangtok and other Sikkimese towns come alive with colourful processions led by monks, accompanied by devotees carrying sacred texts, portraits, and statues of Lord Buddha.</p> <p>According to Buddhist beliefs, any virtuous deed performed during this sacred month is believed to be multiplied manifold.
