Please follow this space for all the breaking news and latest updates from India and around the world.</p> <p><strong>Congress To Sound Poll Bugle In Telangana Today</strong></p> <p>The Congress would sound the poll bugle in Telangana on Sunday with party leader Rahul Gandhi addressing a public meeting at Khammam. Congress State Legislature Party (CLP) leader Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka's 'padayatra' would also conclude at the rally.</p> <p>Gandhi would felicitate Vikramarka, who began his foot march near Adilabad, covering 1,360 km in 108 days as on Saturday, party sources said. At the meeting, former Khammam MP Ponguleti Srinivas Reddy would join Congress.</p> <p>Srinivas Reddy and ex-minister Jupally Krishna Rao have recently announced their decision to join the party. The victory of Congress in recent Karnataka elections has given a boost to the party unit in neighbouring Telangana.</p> <p>Telangana Pradesh Congress Committee (TPCC) president and MP A Revanth Reddy has said the party would end the BRS rule in state with the rally in Khammam.</p> <p>Reddy, who inspected the arrangements on Friday for the public meeting, said Congress would sound the bugle for elections with the Khammam rally and expressed confidence that the meeting would be attended by more people compared to the public meeting organised earlier by ruling BRS in the town.</p> <p><strong>New Leader Of Opposition In Karnataka Assembly Likely To Be Announced Today</strong></p> <p>Former Karnataka Chief Minister and senior BJP leader Basavaraj Bommai said it will be known by Sunday as to who will be the Leader of Opposition in the State Legislative Assembly. According to party sources, BJP's legislature party meeting is likely to take place on Sunday to elect its leader, who will also be the Leader of Opposition in the Assembly, ahead of the legislature session starting from July 3.</p> <p>"It will be known surely tomorrow evening," Bommai told reporters in Chikkamagaluru on Saturday, in response to a question as to who will be the Leader of Opposition.</p> <p>According to BJP sources, the party national general secretary in-charge of Karnataka Arun Singh, has already gathered opinions of the newly elected legislators, and the new leader is likely to be chosen based on it and the outcome of consultations with the BJP's national leadership.</p> <p>Bommai and senior leader and former Union Minister Basanagouda Patil Yatnal are said to be the frontrunners for the post.</p> <p>Questions were raised from several quarters, including the ruling Congress, regarding the delay in electing the Leader of Opposition by the BJP. Also, there were criticisms alleging lack of strong or capable face in the BJP and infighting for the delay in appointment.</p>
