<p>Prime Minister Narendra Modi will visit Pune, Maharashtra, on Tuesday to lay the groundwork for numerous development projects and signal the start of Metro service on the completed parts of the two lines of Pune Metro Phase I. As per Prime Minister's Office (PMO), these portions go from Phugewadi station to Civil Court station and from Garware College station to Ruby Hall Clinic station. The additional portions will connect significant Pune city locations such as Shivaji Nagar, the Civil Court, the Pune Municipal Corporation headquarters, the Pune RTO, and the Pune Railway Station.</p> <p>According to the statement, the inauguration is a major step towards fulfilling the prime minister's ambition of providing residents with contemporary and environmentally friendly mass fast urban transportation networks across the country.</p> <p>Ahead of the Pune metro event, PM Modi is slated to perform 'darshan and puja' at Dagdusheth Mandir upon his arrival. He will also receive the Lokmanya Tilak National Award, established by the Tilak Smarak Mandir Trust in 1983 to recognise Lokmanya Tilak's legacy.</p> <h3><span style="color: #ba372a;">PM Modi's Pune Visit Schedule</span></h3> <ul> <li>Darshan and Pooja at Dagdusheth Mandir: 11 AM<br /><br /></li> <li>Lokmanya Tilak National Award: 11:45 AM<br /><br /></li> <li>Pune Metro event and inauguration of various development projects: 12:45 PM</li> </ul> <p>The Lokmanya Tilak National Award is granted to persons who have worked for the nation's advancement and development and whose contributions can only be described as unique and extraordinary, according to a PIB statement.</p> <p>According to the PMO statement, it is presented every year on August 1, the death anniversary of Lokmanya Tilak. </p> <div> <p>The Prime Minister will also inaugurate the waste-to-energy plant under Pimpri Chinchwad Municipal Corporation (PCMC), which has been developed at a cost of about Rs 300 crore. </p> <p>The plant will use up about 2.5 lakh MT of waste annually to produce electricity, the PIB statement said.</p> <p>PM Modi will hand over more than 1,280 houses constructed under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana by PCMC. He will also hand over more than 2,650 PMAY houses constructed by the Pune Municipal Corporation.</p> <p>The PMO statement stated that Modi will also lay the foundation stone for around 1,190 PMAY houses to be constructed by the PCMC. The foundation stone of more than 6,400 houses to be constructed by the Pune Metropolitan Region Development Authority will also be laid by the PM.</p> </div>
