Amit Shah To Embark On 2-Day Odisha Visit Today, To Hold Meetings With Officials And BJP Functionaries

<p><strong>New Delhi:</strong> Union Home Minister Amit Shah will arrive in Odisha for a two-day official visit, today, news agency PTI reported quoting officials in the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA). Over the course of his visit, the BJP leader will hold meetings with officials.&nbsp;Shah, who initiated the discussion on the Delhi Services Bill in the Lok Sabha before it was passed by the Lower House by virtue of a voice vote, will touch down at the Biju Patnaik International Airport in Bhubaneswar at 10.40 pm today.</p> <p>According to PTI, the Union Home minister will launch a national highway project the day after. He is also scheduled to chair a meeting on Left Wing Extremism (LWE) and disaster management on the same day.</p> <p>The meeting will also be attended by Odisha Chief Minister and Biju Janata Dal (BJD) chief, Naveen Patnaik, PTI reported quoting officials. However, there is no official word on whether the Home minister will hold a separate one-to-one meeting with the Odisha CM.</p> <p>Significantly, the BJD had earlier declared that it will support the Centre on the contentious Delhi Services Bill.</p> <p>Officials further informed PTI that the Home minister will hold a meeting at the airport lounge before departing for the national capital, New Delhi, on Saturday evening.</p> <p>However, there was no official word on who would attend the meeting at the airport lounge.</p> <p>The Union minister&rsquo;s visit to the BJD-ruled state and scheduled meetings to discuss LWE and disaster management is significant as it comes on the heels of the ruling party in Odisha supporting the Centre to ensure passage of the Delhi Services Bill in the Lok Sabha on Thursday.</p> <p>His earlier visit to Odisha on June 17 was cancelled as he was preoccupied with overseeing evacuation ahead of the landfall of Cyclone Biparjoy in Gujarat.</p> <p>Further, over the course of his two-day visit, Shah will hold a closed-door meeting at the BJP&rsquo;s state party headquarters on Saturday.</p>
