The dispute centers around the maintainability of a suit filed before a Varanasi court. An earlier bench, led by Justice Prakash Padia, had reserved its verdict in the case and marked August 28 for the delivery of the judgment. The pleas presented to the court challenge the suit's maintainability, seeking the restoration of a temple on the site where the Gyanvapi mosque presently stands, the report mentioned. The petitions also contest a Varanasi court's directive for the Archaeological Survey of India (ASI) to conduct an extensive survey of the Gyanvapi mosque, PTI reported. The Uttar Pradesh Sunni Waqf Board and the management committee of the Gyanvapi mosque are the petitioners involved in the case.</p>
