Cyclone Likely To Form Over Bay Of Bengal, Collectors Asked To Remain Prepared
The India Meteorological Department said that the depression over the Bay of Bengal may become a low-intensity cyclonic storm by Tuesday. As per IMD's bulletin, the depression lies centred around 610 km south of Odisha's Paradip. Weather scientist Umashankar Dash of the Regional Meteorological Centre told PTI, "Though there is a possibility of the formation of a cyclonic storm, it is likely to be a very weak system. It will have a marginal impact on Odisha, bringing in light to moderate rain. The system at the sea will be around 200 km from the state's coast."
If this system intensifies into a cyclone, it will be called Hamoon, a name given by Iran.
Dash said that fishermen have been warned to not venture into the sea till October 25 as the conditions will remain rough. He said that the IMD has also cautioned farmers to harvest matured paddy crops by Tuesday as some parts of coastal Odisha may experience light to moderate rainfall. Fishermen in the deep sea were advised to return to the coast.
Special Relief Commissioner (SRC) Satyabrata Sahu has asked the collectors to remain prepared to face any eventuality and has directed them to ensure the evacuation of people from low-lying areas in case of heavy rain.

The Shiv Sena (UBT) and the Chief Minister Eknath Shinde-led Shiv Sena will once again engage in a show of strength during Dussehra rallies on Tuesday. Since the split of both groups, they have been engaged in a tussle to show themselves as the true inheritor of founder Bal Thackeray's legacy.
Uddhav Thackeray will address his party's Dussehra rally at Shivaji Park in Dadar, the traditional venue of the event where Bal Thackeray used to charge up his workers with his fiery oratory for more than four decades. Eknath Shinde's rally on the other hand will be organised at Azad Maidan in south Mumbai.
