Over 50 Dead, 150 Wounded As Jabalia Refugee Camp Hit In Gaza. Ministry Calls It ‘Heinous Israeli Massacre’

<p>The Jabalia refugee camp in Gaza became the epicenter of a horrific incident as Hamas-run health ministry reported a shocking initial toll, indicating over 50 fatalities, 150 people wounded, and dozens still buried beneath the rubble. They vehemently condemned the event as a "heinous Israeli massacre", news agency Agence France-Presse (AFP) reported. Jabalia is located in the northern region outside Gaza City, an area where ground battles have raged, and Israel had previously instructed Palestinians to evacuate.</p> <p>A heart-wrenching scene unfolded in the dusty air as volunteers and rescuers labored tirelessly amidst the wreckage of concrete blocks and twisted metal, desperately searching for survivors and bodies. Chilling video footage captured the grim reality, with at least 47 lifeless bodies being uncovered, according to AFP.</p> <p>Israel, which had faced its deadliest attack ever on October 7 when Hamas militants killed approximately 1,400 individuals in a brutal cross-border raid, launched its most intense military campaign on Gaza in response.</p> <p>The devastation in Jabalia came on a day when Israeli troops and Hamas militants engaged in fierce battles in the northern part of the territory. Israel also reported the loss of two soldiers inside Gaza.</p> <p>Warplanes continued their relentless barrage of strikes on Gaza, a place where the Hamas-run health ministry had already reported a staggering death toll of 8,525 people, including more than 3,500 children, before the tragic Jabalia incident, AFP reported.</p> <p>Despite growing international calls for a ceasefire, Israel's Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu asserted that the war would continue.</p> <p>"Calls for a ceasefire are a call for Israel to surrender to Hamas, to surrender to terrorism, to surrender to barbarism," he stated, as per AFP.</p> <p>"This will not happen."</p> <p>&nbsp;</p>
