'ED Notice Sent To Stop Me From Poll Campaign': Kejriwal Ahead Of Questioning In Liquor Policy Case

Arvind Kejriwal ED Notice: Ahead of questioning in the Delhi liquor police case, Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal on Thursday called the notice by the Enforcement Directorate (ED) "illegal", alleging that it was sent to him at the "behest of the BJP". He said that he was served the notice so that he couldn't campaign in poll-bound states, reported ANI.

"The summon notice is illegal and politically motivated. The notice was sent at the behest of the BJP. Notice was sent to ensure that I am unable to go for election campaigning in four states. ED should withdraw the notice immediately," he said.

Kejriwal has been summoned by the federal agency to appear before it for questioning in the Delhi liquor policy case. Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) has earlier said that the CM might be arrested by the agency.

"...Being the National Convener and a star campaigner of the AAP, I am required to travel for campaigning and to provide political guidance to my field workers of AAP. As the CM of Delhi, I have governance and official commitments for which my presence is required, particularly in view of Diwali coming up...Please recall the said summons, which is to say the least is vague and motivated and unsustainable in law," the CM said in a letter to the ED

He said that it was not clear in which capacity he was being called in the case i.e. as a "witness or a suspect".

On Wednesday, West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee launched a blistering attack on the BJP-led central government and accused the ruling party of “conspiring” to arrest all the Opposition leaders ahead of the Lok Sabha elections next year, news agency PTI reported. "Before next year's elections, they (BJP) are trying to gag the voice of all opposition parties. They are planning to arrest all opposition leaders before the polls so that they can vote for themselves in an empty country. They are hatching a conspiracy," news agency PTI quoted CM Banerjee as saying.
