R-Day Parade: Odisha Secures First Prize For Best Tableau, Gujarat Wins In People's Choice Category

<p>The vibrant tableau of Odisha, which showcased women empowerment and the state's rich handicraft and handloom sector during the 75th Republic Day parade in Delhi, has secured the first prize among the tableaux presented by various states and Union Territories, said officials on Tuesday, news agency PTI reported. Additionally, Gujarat's tableau featuring the Dhordo tourism village secured first place in the people's choice category.</p> <p>The awards for the best tableau in both categories were announced and presented during a ceremony at Delhi Cantonment.</p> <p>According to the PTI, officials said, that the Culture Ministry's tableau with the theme 'Bharat: Mother of Democracy' received the first prize among the tableaux presented by various ministries and departments during the ceremonial parade, and the Ministry of Home Affairs' tableau depicting 'vibrant villages' secured the second prize.</p> <p>During the ceremonies, which were attended by French President Emmanuel Macron, a total of 16 tableaux from states and Union territories and nine from central ministries and departments rolled down the Kartavya Path.</p> <p>All the states and UTs that presented their tableaux included Arunachal Pradesh, Haryana, Manipur, Madhya Pradesh, Odisha, Chhattisgarh, Rajasthan, Maharashtra, Andhra Pradesh, Ladakh, Tamil Nadu, Gujarat, Meghalaya, Jharkhand, Uttar Pradesh and Telangana.</p> <p>According to PTI, a senior official said, "The tableau presented by Odisha has finished first in the judge's choice category while Gujarat's tableau has won the top slot in people's choice category." He also stated that In the judge's category, Gujarat finished second while Tamil Nadu was ranked third.</p> <p>In the people's choice category, UP has secured the second position and Andhra Pradesh has bagged third. while in the year 2022, Uttar Pradesh's tableau with the theme based on 'One District One Product and Kashi Vishwanath Dham' won the top award.&nbsp;</p> <p>Public voting was conducted through the MyGov platform for selecting winners in the people's choice category.</p> <h3><span style="color: #ba372a;"><strong>Odisha, Gujarat, Tamil Nadu, And Uttar Pradesh Tableaux&nbsp;</strong></span></h3> <p>The central part of Odisha's winning tableau highlighted women's significant involvement in the handicraft and handloom sector through live demonstrations. It also acknowledged women's adaptation to technology by showcasing their engagement in cashless transactions and e-platform marketing. The tableau featured a big umbrella, symbolizing the whole-hearted support of the central and state governments to artisans under the "Viksit Bharat" program. The "War Horse of Konark Temple" represented Odisha's rapid progress towards shaping a developed India, while the divine elephant "Kandarpa Hasti" symbolized the dedication of Odisha's women to "Viksit Bharat."</p> <p>Gujarat's tableau, themed 'Dhordo: Global Identity of Gujarat's Border Tourism,' covered fascinating aspects of the art and culture of Kutch.</p> <p>Tamil Nadu's tableau highlighted the historical significance of the Kudavolai electoral system, which emerged during the 10th century Chola era, marking an early stride towards democracy.</p> <p>The centerpiece of Uttar Pradesh's tableau in this year's Republic Day celebration was an artistic portrayal of Ram Lalla, whose new idol was recently consecrated at a grand temple in Ayodhya.</p> <p>The country's first high-speed regional rapid transit system (RRTS) was also shown in the tableau. Prime Minister Narendra Modi unveiled it in October on the first corridor's priority segment.</p>
