Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) MP Nishikant Dubey on Thursday demanded that parts of Jharkhand and West Bengal be declared a Union Territory, claiming that there was a surge in the number of illegal immigrants from Bangaldesh in the region.

The request was made by Dubey as he spoke during the Zero Hour in the Lok Sabha today. He also claimed that the population of adivasis in Jharkhand, specifically the Santhal Parganas region, decreased from 36 to 26 per cent, but the state government did not take any action to tackle the issue.

"I demand that Kishanganj, Araria, Katihar, Malda, Murshidabad should be declared as a Union Territory, otherwise the Hindus will disappear," he said, adding that the National Register of Citizens (NRC) should also be implemented there.

The BJP Jharkhand MP also claimed that that the intrusion from Bangladesh was increasing in the states, where Muslims from the neighbouring country were settling and marrying tribal women.

"There are 100 tribal 'mukhiya' in our area but their husbands are Muslims. The woman who contests Lok Sabha or zilla panchayat polls, her husband is a Muslim," Dubey said.

'JMM, Congress Are Not Taking Any Action'

Furthermore, the BJP leader claimed that the riots broke out in Dagapara and Pakur's Taranagar-Ilami as people from Bengal's Malda and Murshidabad were ousting people and "hindu villages are going empty. This is a serious matter."

Dubey also said that he was ready to resign if it was proved that whatever he was saying is incorrect.

#WATCH | In Lok Sabha, BJP MP from Jharkhand's Godda, Nishikant Dubey says, "...The state I come from, from Santhal Pargana area - when Santhal Pargana separated from Bihar and became a part of Jharkhand, in 2000 tribals formed 36% of the population in Santhal Pargana.
