Please follow this space and keep refreshing the page for all the latest updates from India and around the world.</p> <h3>Rahul, Priyanka To Visit Landslides-Hit Wayanad Today</h3> <p>After their initial visit was stalled due to adverse weather conditions, Leader of Opposition in the Lok Sabha Rahul Gandhi and Congress general secretary Priyanka Gandhi Vadra will finally visit landslides-hit Wayanad in Kerala on Thursday. The Congress leaders will meet the families of those affected by the natural disaster.</p> <p>They were scheduled to visit Wayanad Wednesday morning but they put off the visit after they were informed by the authorities that they would not be able to land due to the incessant rain and adverse weather conditions in the hilly region.</p> <p>Congress sources told news agency PTI that the two leaders would visit relief camps at the Government Higher Secondary School and St Joseph UP School in Meppadi.</p> <p>"They would also visit Dr Moopen&rsquo;s Medical College, Meppadi. The devastating series of landslides in Kerala's Wayanad district has claimed at least 132 lives and injured over 200, with the toll expected to rise as rescuers search through the debris," official sources told PTI.</p> <p>"More than 180 people are missing and over 300 houses were completely destroyed in the landslides that hit the Mundakkai and Chooralmala areas of the district," they added.</p> <h3>Orange Alert Issued In Himachal Pradesh For Heavy Rain Today</h3> <p>The regional Met office in Himachal Pradesh issued an 'orange' alert for heavy to very heavy rain, accompanied by thunderstorms and lightning, in isolated places of all Himachal Pradesh districts for Thursday.</p> <p>Kinnaur and Lahaul &amp; Spiti have been barred from this warning. The wet spell in the state is likely to last till August 6.</p> <p>A 'yellow' alert was also issued on Wednesday for heavy rain at isolated places from Friday.&nbsp;</p> <p>The weather office also warned of the possibility of landslides and flash floods in vulnerable areas of Solan, Kullu, Sirmaur, Shimla, and Kinnaur districts.</p> <p>The strong winds and waterlogging might also damage plantations and standing crops and vulnerable structures and kutcha houses in the low-lying areas.</p> <p>&nbsp;</p>
