Ganga surges in Rishikesh due to heavy rainfall, SDRF on alert

<p>NEW DELHI: Heavy rains in Uttarakhand caused a significant rise in the Ganga River's water level in Rishikesh on Sunday. The river surged up to Triveni Ghat Aarti Sthal, prompting the State Disaster Response Force (SDRF) to issue a warning to travelers, advising against staying at the ghats overnight. Superintendent of Police (Rural) Dehradun, Lokjeet, stated that the police are working closely with the administration and have evacuated residents from the riverbanks as a precaution. The situation is being monitored continuously to ensure the safety of the public amid the ongoing heavy rainfall and rising water levels.</p>
