In Kolkata, West Bengal, the tragic case of the rape and murder of a junior doctor on August 8 has sparked nationwide outrage, leading to widespread protests across the country. ABP News launched an investigation called "Operation RG Kar" to uncover the truth behind this disturbing incident. The investigation has identified eight key figures, each playing a significant role in the case. The first is Dr. Reena Das, a member of the post-mortem team, who claims that the crime scene was compromised by unauthorized individuals linked to Principal Sandeep Ghosh, which she believes hindered the investigation. The second figure is Debashis Som, who serves as Ghosh's right-hand man and advisor. On the day of the incident, Ghosh contacted Debashis multiple times, and he admitted to having several discussions with him. Dr. Reena Das described Debashis as someone who executes Ghosh’s orders. The third key person is Dr. Somnath Das, a forensic expert who worked at RG Kar Medical College before being transferred to Bankura Medical College in 2023. He claimed that the college is deeply entangled in a political network and that corruption is widespread. He also accused Ghosh of tampering with post-mortem procedures. The fourth figure, Dr. Akhtar Ali, a former deputy superintendent at RG Kar Medical College now stationed in Murshidabad, has accused Ghosh of corruption and has lodged several complaints against him, including allegations of illegal body sales. The fifth character, Dr. Subhankar, a former student of the college, criticized Ghosh for the surge in corruption during his tenure as principal and pointed to a significant protest against him in 2021. The sixth figure is a medical student who remains anonymous and revealed that new students were subjected to control mechanisms, including ragging and managing senior-student interactions. The seventh individual, another student, described the intense mental pressure endured by hostel residents, calling it academic terrorism. This student highlighted the principal’s lobby and its ties to the TMC unit that backs Ghosh. Lastly, the eighth figure, also a student, disclosed that those who didn’t align with the principal’s network faced academic punishments, such as failing exams as a form of retribution.
