The oath-taking ceremony for Delhi's new Chief Minister, Atishi, is set for 4:30 PM on Saturday at the Raj Niwas. This announcement follows some confusion, as Atishi and other ministers had not received the swearing-in timing from the Lieutenant Governor's office. According to protocol, the resignation of any Chief Minister must be approved by the President. The resignation file of outgoing CM Arvind Kejriwal had not yet reached the Lieutenant Governor's office, leading to the delay. While Saturday was confirmed for the ceremony, the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) was still waiting for the precise timing. Alongside Atishi, other cabinet ministers such as Gopal Rai, Kailash Gahlot, Saurabh Bharadwaj, and Imran Hussain will also take their oaths. Additionally, AAP MLA Mukesh Ahlawat from Sultanpur Majra will be inducted as a new member of the cabinet. Atishi will become the third woman to serve as Chief Minister of Delhi, following the late Sheila Dikshit and Sushma Swaraj. Having held various important portfolios in the Delhi government, her appointment was supported unanimously by the party after Arvind Kejriwal put her name forward. As the elected MLA from the Kalkaji constituency, Atishi will need to pass a floor test after her swearing-in. The Delhi Assembly session is scheduled for September 26-27, where she must secure the confidence of the House. Following Kejriwal's imprisonment related to the excise policy case, Atishi was assigned an extensive portfolio, overseeing 13 departments, the most by any minister in the Delhi government. She has been closely associated with Kejriwal and served as an advisor to former Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia from 2015 to 2018.
