Assam CM Himanta Warns Of Invoking NSA As 14 Arrested For ‘Seditious’ Posts After Pahalgam Terror Attack

<p>At least 14 people have been arrested across Assam for making &ldquo;seditious comments&rdquo; in the wake of the Pahalgam terror attack, Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma said on Saturday. He warned that provisions of the stringent National Security Act (NSA) would be invoked against them if required.</p> <p>Speaking to reporters on the sidelines of a programme at the state BJP office, CM Sarma stressed, &ldquo;There are no similarities between Bharat and Pakistan. The two countries are enemy nations and we must remain like that&rdquo;, news agency PTI reported.</p> <p>He further said that a leader of the Krishak Mukti Sangram Samiti was apprehended on Friday for making an &ldquo;anti-India comment&rdquo; and cautioned that anyone taking a similar stance would be arrested. &ldquo;If required, we will impose provisions of NSA on them. Sarma, in another post on X, informed that one individual had been apprehended in Sribhumi district on Friday night for posting &ldquo;Pakistan Zindabad&rdquo; on Facebook.</p> <p>Further, in yet another social media post, he stated that two more persons had been arrested in Cachar district for posting content supporting Pakistan.</p> <p>&ldquo;Cachar Police has arrested two more persons for posting content supporting Pakistan on social media,&rdquo; he wrote.</p> <p>On Thursday, two individuals, including opposition AIUDF MLA Aminul Islam, were apprehended. Six more arrests were made across the state on Friday, according to Sarma.</p> <p>The crackdown follows a deadly terrorist attack in Baisaran, a prime tourist location in Pahalgam, south Kashmir, on Tuesday, which left at least 26 people dead, mostly tourists, and several others injured.</p>
