Pakistan Violates Ceasefire At LoC In Jammu-Kashmir's Poonch, Indian Army Retaliates

<p class="p1">The Line of Control (LoC) witnessed heightened tensions as the Pakistan Army violated the ceasefire by opening fire at the Indian side in the Krishna Ghati (KG) sector. There was no loss of life or property on the Indian side. The cross-border firing, which continued intermittently throughout the day, saw Indian troops maintaining full deployment in the Krishna Ghati area, as per India Today's report.</p> <p>According to Army sources cited by the report, Pakistani forces and terrorists have made multiple unsuccessful intrusion attempts in the Krishna Ghati sector of Jammu and Kashmir, suffering heavy casualties in the process. In the first week of February, Pakistani troops initiated small-arms fire and detonated explosives along the LoC, prompting a strong retaliatory response from the Indian Army. Despite India raising the issue with Pakistan, cross-border violations have persisted, the report stated.</p> <p>The latest escalation comes nearly four years after India and Pakistan reaffirmed their ceasefire agreement in February 2021, following discussions between the Director Generals of Military Operations (DGMOs) of both nations. The agreement was intended to stabilise the LoC and reduce hostilities. However, the recent spike in ceasefire violations, particularly in the southern Pir Panjal region, has raised concerns over the pact.</p> <h3><strong>Anti-Terror Operations Intensified in Jammu Region</strong></h3> <p>Security forces have heightened their vigilance across the border districts of Poonch, Rajouri, Samba, Jammu, and Kathua, following reports of three terrorists still remaining untraced in Kathua, news agency IANS reported. An extended anti-terror operation has been underway in Kathua since March 23, where two terrorists were recently neutralised in the forested area of Saniyal. Reports suggest that a group of five terrorists had infiltrated into Indian territory and were attempting to move towards the higher reaches of Kathua.</p> <p>Joint forces have expanded the search operations, leading to a brief exchange of gunfire between security forces and the terrorists on Monday evening. Additionally, a &lsquo;search and destroy&rsquo; operation has been launched in the Poonch and Rajouri districts, where foreign mercenaries had previously carried out attacks against police, army, and security forces.</p> <p>According to IANS, officials indicate that terrorist activities in the Jammu region are being orchestrated by handlers based across the border in Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK). In response, security forces have revised their strategy, maintaining a dominant presence in the region to keep terrorists on the run.</p> <p>Over 4,000 trained Para Commandos and CRPF personnel have been deployed deep inside forested areas and at higher elevations in Poonch, Rajouri, Ramban, Udhampur, and Reasi districts. To counter infiltration attempts, 24x7 patrolling is being conducted along the LoC and the international border in Jammu and Kashmir.</p> <p>As tensions continue to rise along the LoC, security forces remain on high alert to prevent further escalation.</p>
